CNY Adaptive Sports Welcomes New Board Members Erik Ryan and Casey Favata

CNY Adaptive Sports is proud to announce the addition of two new members to its board, Erik Ryan and Casey Favata. Both individuals bring unique perspectives, experiences, and a shared commitment to enhancing the adaptive sports landscape in our community.

Erik Ryan

Erik Ryan: A Triumph of Spirit and Sport

Erik Ryan, a Syracuse native, is a passionate outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. Born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, Erik has learned to navigate life’s challenges with remarkable determination and resilience. His faith plays a significant role in his daily life, attending Wellspring Family Life Church in Brewerton. Erik discovered his love for sled hockey in his teens, inspired by his step-dad, a devout Pittsburgh Penguins fan. After getting his own sled and gear at 16, he has been actively involved in the sport, drawing strength and motivation from the community around him. Erik’s notable participation in events like the Wounded Warrior tournament highlights his dedication and the positive impact adaptive sports have on his life.

Casey Favata: A Fresh Perspective on Community and Service

Casey Favata is currently pursuing his accounting degree at SUNY Oswego, set to graduate in 2027. His journey with community service began alongside his brother, diving into local initiatives as an intern last March. Casey has spent four summers working at Liverpool Pool And Spa, gaining valuable experience that enriches his understanding of local business and community engagement. Though his return this summer remains uncertain, his commitment to giving back to the community is steadfast.

As new board members, Erik and Casey are excited to bring their energy, insights, and leadership to CNY Adaptive Sports. Their backgrounds and experiences will undoubtedly contribute to the organization’s goals of promoting inclusivity, resilience, and the joy of sports for all abilities.

Please join us in welcoming Erik and Casey to the board. We look forward to their contributions and the fresh perspectives they will bring to our community’s adaptive sports programs. Together, we continue to strive towards a more inclusive and active Central New York.
