Syracuse Sled Hockey Classic 2024

About the Tournament:

The Syracuse Sled Hockey Classic is an event hosted by the CNY Flyers. It features sled hockey teams across New York State competing over three days.

Rink Information:
Parking isn’t in the best location; there is a lot behind the rink, which we ask is only used to load/unload equipment and passengers who are unable to travel long distances. Please use this map for reference:

Locker Rooms:
There will be rooms for all teams and equipment will be allowed to be stored for the duration of the tournament.


There will be a silent auction for donated items throughout the weekend. The auctions will be closed at the conclusion of the Bronze Medal Game on Sunday. Winners not on-site will be contacted.

Game Setup and Schedule:

Friday and Saturday will be 3 15-minute running clock periods. Each game time slot is scheduled for 1-hour, no Zamboni between games. If you are in the second slot of that game block, there is a studio rink available to warm up on, no pucks allowed on this rink but can be used to skate. Sunday medal rounds will be start/stop clock. Here is the game schedule:

Friday 3/15:
5:30 – CNY Flyers vs Ft. Drum
6:30 – Albany vs Buffalo

Saturday 3/16:
9:00 – CNY Flyers vs Albany
10:00 – Buffalo vs Ft. Drum


2:30 – Albany vs Ft. Drum
3:30 – CNY Flyers vs Buffalo
4:30 – “Try-it” open ice session for spectators. See SU’s mascot, Otto, in a sled. Syracuse University has sleds available to try the sport. Skate alongside the sled hockey players, who are encouraged to join.

Sunday 3/17:
9:00 – Bronze Medal Game
12:00 – Gold Medal Game

Tournament Rules:

All players can only play for one team during the tournament. If recruiting players to fill out the roster, get ability-appropriate players to avoid distorting competition.
Teams will be seeded 1st through 4th place based on the number of points earned from the three preliminary games. If there is a tie, the following tiebreakers will be used.

  • Head-to-head competition.
  • Most wins.
  • Goal differential (5 goals maximum differential for a single game).
  • Fewest goals against.
  • Fewest penalty minutes
  • Most wins.
  • Coin toss
